Dr. Bonnie Altieri is the Vice President of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer at Children’s Specialized Hospital (CSH). A position she has held since 2013. In this role she oversees patient safety as well as nursing practice and standards throughout CSH. She is directly responsible for the provision of patient care services in the rehabilitation hospital and long term care units.

Prior to working at CSH Bonnie was the Director, Administration, Office of the Dean at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and the Chief Nursing Officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group, the medical school’s multi-specialty group practice. Prior to her appointment at RWJMS, she held numerous positions at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital including Vice President, Medical Affairs and prior to that Assistant Vice President, Nursing and Patient Services.

Bonnie earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, a master’s degree from Yale University, and a PhD from Villanova University. Her doctoral dissertation is entitled, A comparison of staff nurse perceptions of nurse executive and nurse manager leadership in magnet and non-magnet hospitals; her areas of research interest include: patient safety; nurse-physician collaboration; patient care work environment and interdisciplinary education.

Bonnie and her husband, Paul, have two sons.
