Dental Residency Training Program

The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Dental Residency Program is a demanding postgraduate certificate program with a major emphasis in hospital dentistry. Aimed at providing advanced training, this program is comprised of rotations that enable its residents to practice all facets of dentistry with the added advantage of working comfortably in a nationally distinguished academic medical center.

The General Practice Residency Training Program is aimed at refining and advancing knowledge in clinical skills and providing a broad understanding of the interrelationships of dental and medical care to the physical, social, and emotional needs of the patient. With this in mind, the general objectives of the program are to:
  • Provide the resident with state-of-the-art clinical and didactic training and experience in all medical and dental disciplines associated with comprehensive dental care at an elite academic medical center
  • Correlate, integrate, and expand upon the diverse knowledge and experience acquired in Dental School
  • Aid in the development of confidence and competence in the practical application of acquired knowledge and skills and enhance the residents ability to make sound clinical judgment
  • Serve as a catalyst for furthering physician-dentist relationships and interactions
Residents gain clinical experience and advanced training in all aspects of general dentistry including General Practice, Endontontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Oral Surgery, and Prosthodontics.

This is a one year PGY1 program.
