Learning Objectives
After the session, the participants will be able to:
- Assess current spinal surgery treatment including minimally invasive options and review procedural instrumentation.
- Examine the current methods for treatment of brain tumors including minimally invasive open surgery and radiosurgery using CyberKnife.
- Describe management of current treatment options for surgical intervention in management of brain tumors in the pediatric population.
- Identify the role of the nurse practitioner in the care of the neurosurgical patient.
- Illustrate the need for rapid evaluation and planning for care including implementation of nursing assessments and treatment plans appropriate for stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage in the acute care setting.
- Describe the current management and treatment of stroke.
- Evaluate indications for surgical treatment for Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders.
- Summarize the ICU management of patients with stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
- Describe the current paradigms in treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
