Support on the Journey

Free online session about appropriate classroom placements and how to address disagreements with the school district.

Topics: Preparing your child for adulthood: Special Education Transition Rights

Online Event: Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Presented by:

The Legal Assistance to Medical Patient Project (LAMP), Legal Services of New Jersey

About this session: In New Jersey transition planning for post-school life begins at age 14. Eligible students’ IEPs must begin to reflect the student’s path to prepare them for future success for post-high school education, employment and independent living. This program will provide parents and guardians with a general understanding of what the special education laws and regulations require to be included in a child’s IEP, along with links to resources, so the parent and/or child can advocate effectively for transition services.

Note: You will receive a reminder and the meeting link via email two days before the session. You are welcome to submit your questions ahead of the day. To submit your questions and obtain information relating to this event, email Sandra at sjohnson@childrens-specialized.org
