Learning Outcomes: The provider will demonstrate understanding of the content by improved identification and management of behavioral health issues in the elderly and recognize when to refer to another mental health provider for care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the prevalence of behavioral health conditions in the elderly.
  • Recognize the atypical presentation of mental illness in the elderly.
  • Gain knowledge about diagnosing and treating mental health illness and the behavioral manifestations of dementia in the elderly.
  • Appreciate the importance of loneliness and isolation on the mental health of the elderly.
