    Philosophy of Care:

    Dr. Cole practices medicine in New Jersey with the goal of compassion towards patients and their families, treating them holistically with a “cure when possible, but always care” attitude. He is still overwhelmingly touched every time he receives patient’s letters thanking him for saving their life and for truly caring about them, their family and loved ones.

    Robert John Cole, MD DABR a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist, has been in clinical practice since 1979 and specializes in cancers of the breast, colon, lung, and prostate gland. He is a firm proponent of prostate seed implantation as it affords a high success rate with minimal downtime or side effects. With over 39 years of experience, he has successfully performed hundreds of prostate seed implants. He pioneered the prostate seed implantation program at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey during his eighteen-year tenure there. He is currently the medical director of The Cancer Center, PC in Morristown with additional offices and surgical facilities throughout northwest New Jersey. He is well known throughout the state and respected by his peers. Through his voluntary efforts, Dr. Cole has raised over one million dollars for the American Cancer Society for cancer research and patient care. Dr. Cole has also participated in the Vida International Medical Care program in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. He lectures throughout the state on a variety of topics. Dr. Cole earned his medical degree at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He completed an externship in anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, a diagnostic radiology internship, and served as the chief resident in a three-year radiation oncology residency at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Cole received postgraduate training in Transrectal Ultrasound Prostate Implantation at the Pacific Northwest Cancer Foundation in Seattle, Washington with pioneer Dr. John Blasko, and at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York with Dr. Nelson Stone. He is currently affiliated with many New Jersey Hospitals including Newton Medical Center in Newton, Trinitas Medical Center in Elizabeth, Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, the East Orange Veterans Hospital in East Orange (for US Veterans), as well as numerous free standing outpatient surgical centers throughout the state.
