    Mark S. Granick, MD, FACS

    The chief of plastic surgery and professor of surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, for the past four years, Dr. Granick has more than 30 years of academic plastic surgical experience. Internationally known for his expertise in wound surgery and technology, Dr. Granick’s particular interests include plastic and reconstructive surgery with an emphasis on surgical wound care, as well as treatment of skin cancers, cosmetic surgery, and complex reconstructive surgery from injury, cancer, and various deformities. Dr. Granick previously served 12 years as chief of plastic surgery and as the director of the plastic surgery residency program as well as professor of surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which was changed to Rutgers New Jersey Medical School four years ago, and 10 years as professor of surgery at Hahnemann University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Cornell University since 1973, and an MD from Harvard Medical School since 1977. Dr. Granick completed his residency in otolaryngology and residency in plastic surgery and is certified by the American Boards of Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

    Throughout Dr. Granick’s many years in the field, he has taught courses and has lectured extensively throughout the world. He has written roughly 50 book chapters, 200 articles in peer reviewed publications, and has edited nine textbooks. In fact, he co-founded and continues to co-edit the first open-access, Pub Med indexed plastic surgery journal “ePlasty,” and served as a founder and executive board member of the Journal of Wound Technology. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Granick is also a member of the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a senior member of the Plastic Surgery Research Council and of the Wound Healing Society.

    He has received much support throughout his career, including National Institutes of Health funded research on biofilms and wounds. He also fostered a program of cutting-edge surgery and developed one the most coveted plastic surgical training programs in the U.S. Highlighted in more than 20 editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the East, Dr. Granick has also been recognized by Castle Connelly’s Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan area.
