Dr. Gengo Sunagawa is the Surgical Director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He trained in Japan and later completed advanced cardiac surgery fellowships at Cleveland Clinic and Temple University Hospital, specializing in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Sunagawa’s expertise spans coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic aneurysm repair, heart valve surgery, LVAD implantation, and minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
