- Surgery-Bloodless | Surgery-Robotic | Urology
Domenico Savatta, M.D. FACS is a leader in robotic surgery having performed over 1,200 daVinci robotic prostatectomies and 1,600 robotic operations (as of 2013). Dr. Savatta has participated in research involving minimally invasive ways to ablate renal tissue including new laparoscopic techniques and high intensity focused ultrasound ablation of kidneys, and research using gene therapy to treat prostate cancer. He has co-authored publications with national experts on performing robotic inguinal hernia repair during robotic prostatectomy, as well as robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer. He is a member of the American Urological Association, The Endourologic Society and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Accomplishments: -1st DaVinci prostatectomy in the Morris/Essex/Union county area (December 2004) -1st robotic partial nephrectomy in New Jersey (5/05) -1st robotic cystectomy New Jersey (11/05) -Live daVinci robotic prostatectomy to the American Urologic Association national meeting (5/22/06) -1st daVinci S Urologic robotic instructor in the Northeast at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s Robotic Surgery Center (8/06) -Live daVinci robotic radical nephrectomy (for kidney cancer) at the American Urologic Association national meeting (5/20/07), the 1st live operation of this type.
