    Brendan Scully MD is an assistant Professor of Surgery at Robert Wood John Medical School and Board Certified in both General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. Dr. Scully grew up in northern New Jersey and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University and then completed his premedical studies at Columbia University. He attained his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his general surgery residency at New York Presbyterian- Columbia, during which he completed the Thomas C King Fellowship in Surgical Education at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Scully completed his subspecialty colorectal fellowship with the Salvati program affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson. His practice addresses both benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. Dr. Scully is trained in advanced techniques to optimize patient outcomes and speed the recovery process. These techniques include robotic and laparoscopic approaches to surgery, organ preservation in rectal cancer, the use of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols and a multidisciplinary approach towards cancers of the colon, rectum and anus. Dr. Scully strives to provide the care he would want a family member to receive, and this includes clear communication with patients and referring providers, close follow-up and access to clinical trials where appropriate. Dr. Scully sees patients at both the Somerset and New Brunswick locations. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Association for Surgical Education.
