    Dr. Andrea Harangozo has been Assistant Professor, later Clinical Assistant Professor, at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Rutgers- RWJMS) since 1990. She did molecular biology research in pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis and was the medical director of an internationally renowned air ambulance company. This company was used as a prototype for the development of NJ ground critical care interfacility ICU transportation with basic protocols for critically ill patients. Dr. Harangozo established her own practice which merged with Pulmonary and Intensive Care Specialists of NJ in 1995.

    Dr. Harangozo served on the Medical Executive Committee of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) for 19 years and serves on the Performance Improvement Committee of Rutgers-RWJMS’ Department of Medicine. She helped develop the user interface for the clinical information systems in RWJUH. She was elected the first female president of the Medical Staff at RWJUH. She has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for over 20 years. She was also acknowledged with a 2019 and 2022 Faculty Award from Rutgers-RWJMS.

    Clinical Interests

    Dr. Harangozo provides the pulmonary and often medical management for a large portion of the ALS patients of the national ALS Association designated Certified Treatment Center of Excellence in New Brunswick, NJ.
