What is Aortic Disease?

The aorta is the most important artery in your body as it carries oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to all the vital organs. When affected by disease, the aorta can split (dissection) or dilate (aneurysm) and in either case, the rupture may have fatal results.

Key Takeaways

  • Aneurysms are a progressive disease that require monitoring with regular checkups.
  • 95% of aortic aneurysms come without a warning. A patient will not have any symptoms until a major aortic event (death, dissection or rupture) happens.
  • Timely intervention is warranted because once an aortic complication occurs (dissection or rupture) short-and long-term patient results diminish rapidly.

Our center uses these advanced technologies to ensure we’re getting a complete view of the patient’s anatomy. This allows our team of experts to create a detailed, personalized care plan to best fit your needs.

Access to Genetic Testing at Our Aortic Center

If you or a family member have been diagnosed with an aortic condition, it may be the result of an inherited heart and vascular disorder. In our clinic, we offer testing and consultation for those patients suspected of having a genetic predisposition for aortic complications, as well as any patient experiencing aortic disease. Prior to scheduling an appointment, you will need a referral from your cardiologist. To contact our aortic center, please call us at the numbers below.
