The Kidney Transplant Surgery Hub Around the Corner

There are two options for treating kidney failure: dialysis and kidney transplant surgeries. Kidney transplant surgery has a long-term success rate and is considered the best treatment for kidney failure. Patients generally require only several days of hospitalization for renal transplant surgery.

In order to be considered for kidney transplant, patients must be individually evaluated. Once they are determined to be a candidate for transplant, our transplant physicians will help them find a kidney either through a deceased or living donor. There are several different types of living donation, and living donor transplant has a higher long-term success rate.

Our Kidney Transplant Division is one of the largest and most progressive centers for kidney transplantation in the nation with more than 30 years of experience in the field.

We’re proud to be one of only a few renal transplant programs in New Jersey involved in clinical research trials for patients. Our physicians have actively participated as primary investigators for clinical research trials in new anti-rejection drug therapies since 1993.

Our goal is to offer improved quality of life to kidney patients facing kidney failure and dependence on dialysis. We continuously advocate for patients to participate in the newest research and surgical options to offer the most transplant opportunities.

Transplant candidates meet with our experienced team members in order to explore transplant as a treatment option. In addition, we offer candidates the opportunity to speak with transplant recipients and learn more about kidney transplantation at our small, informal educational sessions.
