Last month, RWJBarnabas Health welcomed Senator Andy Kim to the Saint James Health Clinic (SJH) at East Side High School in Newark to share how the school-based model is helping bring care directly into the community. Senator Kim toured the clinic alongside Balpreet Grewal-Virk, PhD, Senior Vice President, Community Health, RWJBarnabas Health, and Nicole Fields, President and Chief Executive Officer, Saint James Health.
Opened in partnership with RWJBarnabas Health in August 2024, the clinic at East Side High is part of an ongoing effort to increase access to care and improve health outcomes for Newark’s most vulnerable populations. Through our partnership, SJH and RWJBarnabas Health provide primary care services here – including pediatrics, adult medicine, vaccines and physicals – along with support from a Community Health Worker and social workers and assistance with insurance enrollment.
