Sep 30, 2025 Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Partners with The Mall at Short Hills to Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) and the RWJBarnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) are once again partnering with The Mall at Short Hills to raise awareness for breast health.

“I had gotten a mammogram every year since I was 35, and I had just had a mammogram and ultrasound the December before when everything was perfectly clear, and I still found it myself,” shares Jodi Frohnapfel. “That’s why I tell people now, don’t skip your annual screenings, and always listen to your body. If something feels off, act.”

Jodi is just one of the inspiring cancer survivors featured in the display, located in Grand Court and throughout The Mall at Short Hills this October. The display includes the powerful stories of other cancer survivors who received their care at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and reinforces the partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute — the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center

In addition, the display showcases the new Melchiorre Cancer Center, a free-standing Cancer Center opening on the campus of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in the coming months. Reimagined with our patients at the center of care, the five-story Melchiorre Cancer Center brings together CBMC’s cancer services in one convenient location and provides close-to-home access to the latest treatments and clinical trials.

“When I see this center rising, I don’t just see a building. I see a promise. A promise that every patient who walks through those doors will have access to world-class treatment, without unnecessary strain. A promise that they’ll be held by a team that treats their spirit as much as their body. A promise that the journey will be just a little less hard,” shares Jennifer Caputo, another inspiring cancer survivor featured in the display. “Care will finally be together, under one roof. That isn’t just a building plan. That is compassion designed into architecture.”

Early detection is crucial for breast cancer and can improve a woman’s overall prognosis. Breast health is too important to wait. Visit www.rwjbh.org/mammo to schedule a mammogram at the renovated Breast Center, located at the RWJBarnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, NJ. The Breast Center includes a dedicated breast MRI, 3-D Mammography, contrast-enhanced mammography and a redesigned registration area with more privacy and improved efficiency. Providing care to more than 50,000 patients each year, breast health services include screening and diagnostic procedures for detecting breast cancer and pinpointing other suspicious areas in the breast.
