Critical Care Physician Chandler Dean Patton, M.D., has been named MMC Physician of the Month for September. Presenting the award is Chief Medical Officer Kenneth Granet, M.D. They were joined for the presentation by Intensive Care Unit team members and hospital leadership.
Long Branch, NJ, September 21, 2023 – Pulmonologist Chandler Dean Patton, M.D., medical director of Critical Care Services at Monmouth Medical Center and Chair of the Department of Medicine, is the hospital’s September Physician of the Month. Dr. Patton was praised as a physician who for more than 30 years has been dedicated to providing the best care possible to our patients. Among the comments received in Dr. Patton’s nominations were:
“I had the pleasure of working side-by-side with Dr. Patton in the ICU during the height of COVID-19. This was such an emotional and exhausting time watching patients get sicker and feeling helpless, but Dr. Patton was always rock solid. He is an amazing clinician and very calm in even the worst circumstances. More recently, I have been in the Pulmonary Lab and have gotten to appreciate his precision with bronchoscopy. It is an absolute pleasure to work with Dr. Patton.”
“As our Medical Director at the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, Dr. Patton has consistently demonstrated his dedication and leadership to ensure that the program provides a quality service to our patients. As an advocate for evidence-based practice, Dr. Patton ensures that the staff engage in innovative ways to offer the patient exercises beyond the standard modalities suited to their function. In spite of his hectic schedule, flexibility and easy accessibility are strong assets of Dr. Patton.”

Dr. Patton, who joined the MMC Medical Staff in 1993, has served as Pulmonary/Critical Care Section Chief and Medical Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation since 2018 and as Medical Director of Critical Care at Monmouth Medical Center since 2016. In addition, he has served as Medical Director of the Healthy Lives Program since 2019, and he previously served as Adult Medical Director for the Cystic Fibrosis Center.
