NEWARK, NJ (May 9, 2023) — Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, hosted the 9th Annual Women’s Health Day “Healthy Women, Healthy Families” at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel on May 6, 2023.

More than 450 women attended the event, the highlight of which was a panel discussion on health and wellness issues moderated by special guest host, Newark’s First Lady Linda Baraka.

“Empowering our community with the tools they need to lead a healthy lifestyle and better manage chronic illness is essential to creating a healthier Newark, and it is a fundamental part of our mission. This year were proud to partner with the First Lady of Newark, Linda Baraka to bring this event to an even wider audience,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr. MHA, MPH, FACHE, FHELA, president and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey who welcomed attendees.

The panel of women’s health experts from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey included Laura Budinick, PsyD, Vice President of Behavioral Health and Chief Administrative Officer, NBI; Johanny Garcia, MD, Vice President of Population Health at RWJBarnabas Health; Rebeca Kane, DNP, APN-BC, CCRN, Assistant Vice President, Heart and Lung Transplant, Pulmonary Medicine, Advanced Heart Failure, and Ambulatory Cardiology; Kerri Likakis, MS, RDN, Manager of Community Wellness Services, Norma Milanes-Roberts, MD, Obstetrician and Gynecologist; and Serena Ngan, PA-C, MSPAS, Medical Oncology Physician Assistant and Survivorship Program Coordinator at Frederick B. Cohen Comprehensive Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

Gloria Boseman, PhD, RN, presented a motivational speech, focused on the importance of wellness and self-care prior to an afternoon of wellness activities that included free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, paint and sip sessions, Reiki, and meditation with door prizes, and more.
