Perry Farhat, Esq., Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset; Administrative Director, Babs Siperstein PROUD Center; and Director, PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey, all RWJBarnabas Health facilities, was recently named to the Insider NJ OUT 100 LGBTQ+ Power List. The list recognizes politically influential LGBTQ+ voices in New Jersey politics.
“Perry has made outstanding achievements and contributions to the effort to create a safer, more inclusive New Jersey for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Patrick Delaney, Chief Administrative Officer, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. “As an attorney and health care administration professional, he has dedicated himself to advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals and other people from marginalized groups.”
During his tenure at RWJBarnabas Health, the Babs Siperstein PROUD Center received the NJBIZ HealthCare Heroes Award and was honored by the National Association of Social Workers – New Jersey Chapter’s 2022 Organization of the Year. Further, the Babs Siperstein PROUD Center increased access to LGBTQ affirming care to the community by 50% in his first year of operation. In addition to his role at RWJBarnabas Health, Mr. Farhat serves as a member of Governor Murphy’s LGBTQ+ Taskforce. Prior to joining RWJBarnabas Health, Mr. Farhat served as an Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice and as an Assistant Prosecutor at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, where he also took on the roles as LGBTQ Emphasis Program Manager (DOJ) and community outreach liaison (Somerset Prosecutors Office).
