Dec 4, 2020 Hospital Leader Recognized by the Township of Belleville for Kind and Compassionate Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Belleville – Joseph Wojtecki, Assistant Director of Patient Experience at Clara Maass Medical Center, was recognized recently at a virtual meeting of the Municipal Council of Belleville for demonstrating compassion and care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Joe has done an exceptional job of keeping our patients’ and families connected during such an unprecedented period of time” said Mary Ellen Clyne, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Clara Maass Medical Center.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Township of Belleville, and to be recognized for my work with patients, a role that I truly love and enjoy” said Wojtecki.

According to the Township-issued proclamation, the Mayor and Municipal Council noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wojtecki touched the lives of many by connecting patients with their families using platforms such as FaceTime, Google Duo and Google Meet during a period of time when the visitation policy at the Medical Center was suspended due to the pandemic.

Furthermore, the proclamation described how countless families utilized Wojtecki as a conduit to see and speak with their loved ones and to provide physical comfort in absence of family members.

In addition to his role at the Medical Center, Wojtecki, of Hawthorne, New Jersey is the father of three adult sons, Joseph (Veteran–USMC), L.Cpl. Alexander (USMC) and Christian, and is a twenty-five year member of the Hawthorne Fire Department. He is also the President Elect of the Kiwanis Club of Belleville-Nutley and a Life Member of the Glen Rock Ambulance and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue Squad. He is currently serving as an elected member of the Hawthorne Borough Council, and is a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Church. In 2012, Wojtecki was recognized by the New Jersey Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey with the Humanism in Healthcare award.
