Apr 13, 2018 Trinitas Expands Behavioral Services To Bayonne

Elizabeth-based Medical Center assumes ownership of Bayonne Community Mental Health Center

The health care world is in a rapid state of transformation where new opportunities often arise to elevate the level of care. Such an opportunity presented itself in 2017, when the Board of Trustees of Bayonne Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) elected to have Trinitas Regional Medical Center assume ownership of the CMHC.

Bayonne Community Mental Health CenterThe Department of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry of Trinitas Regional Medical Center is one of the largest, oldest and most comprehensive psychiatric services in New Jersey, with locations throughout the state. It provides inpatient and outpatient services to children, adolescents and adults, with nearly 200,000 visits per year.

"This transition to ownership by Trinitas promises to be as seamless as possible. There are no plans for any interruption or major changes in the name, services, personnel, hours, location or anything else that would impact the clientele or the community," explained Joseph M. Kadian, Psy.D., President and CEO of the CMHC. Accordingly, Trinitas will attain all medical records. Located at 601 Broadway, Bayonne CMHC will also continue to serve all clients regardless of their ability to pay for services.

According to Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President & CEO of Trinitas, "In line with Trinitas' historically strong leadership role in mental health and substance abuse treatment, the Bayonne community can expect to receive the highest level of care it has come to know and rely on during the span of the Center's 46 years of service. In the spirit of continued and future success, Trinitas plans to invest significant funding with the intention of upgrading important elements of administration, including electronic medical records, computerized registration and billing software, and high-speed telecommunications equipment."

Since its inception in 1972, CMHC has provided essential mental health programs to the residents of Bayonne and neighboring communities, including: Child, Adolescent and Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Services, Child and Family Therapy Programs, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Programs, Crime Victims' Services, Partial Care Programs for Adults with Serious Mental Illness, Adult Outpatient Addictions Services, and a variety of successful community awareness and outreach programs.

The Bayonne CMHC is an active member in State and County service planning efforts, and maintains a consistent presence on all related advisory boards and committees. The Bayonne CMHC holds three State licenses, receives thousands of requests for service each year, and renders nearly 25,000 mental health and substance abuse visits per year to Bayonne adults, adolescents, and children.

"We are pleased to have found a partner whose mission so closely aligns with ours," explained Dr. Kadian. "With their demonstrated history of providing accessible mental health and addictions services for close to 75 years, our Board is confident that our association with Trinitas will allow the Bayonne CMHC to continue to respond to the needs of our community, ensure our commitment to our clients, and enable the Center to continue the mission that it started 46 years ago without interruption."
