  • Raphael S.F. Longobardi, MD, FAAOS is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and athletic injuries. He has taught at NYU School of Medicine and is currently Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center-Hospital for Joint Diseases Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been a faculty mentor at NYU School of Medicine; a member of the Admissions Committee for NYU School of Medicine and a member of NYU School of Medicine's Board of Governors. He is a member of the Dean's Pre-Health Advisory Board and Science Council at Fordham University and serves as an advisor for pre-med students. He also mentors students at Bergen Academies High School. Dr. Longobardi has extensive experience caring for collegiate and professional athletes, serving as assistant team physician with the NY Islanders Hockey Team, University of Tennessee athletic teams, minor league baseball and hockey teams, the NY-NJ MetroStars and the Florida Marlins Baseball Team. He was the team physician for the 2009 New Jersey-Northeast High School All-Star Classic Football Game. Since 2009, he has served as team physician for Bergen Catholic High School's Athletic programs. Dr. Longobardi is active in numerous professional organizations including a Fellow of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. From 2010-13, he served on the AOSSM Council of Delegates as New Jersey’s delegate.

    Clinical interests: Reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee; ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL injuries; computer assisted/ robotic knee replacement surgery; bio-surgical knee treatments with meniscal and osteochondral allograft transplantation; autologous cultured chondrocyte implantation; and upper extremity injuries in the throwing athlete.
