    Francis Weng is Chief, Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. As Chief, Dr. Weng oversees all aspects of the Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division, from patient care to clinical research. Dr. Weng joined the Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division at SBMC in 2005 as a transplant nephrologist.

    Dr. Weng also has appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Rutgers School of Public Health. Prior to being named Chief, Dr. Weng had served as Director of Transplant Research, Program Director, and then Associate Chief of the Transplant Division.

    While at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Weng has led several large transplant-related research studies, funded by the National Institutes of Health and others. He is the author of dozens of articles published in leading medical journals and speaks nationally on transplant-related topics. Dr. Weng’s research focuses upon reducing racial disparities in access to living donor transplant; increasing medication adherence in transplant recipients; improving health education regarding kidney transplantation; and enhancing utilization of deceased donor kidneys.

    Kidney and pancreas transplant. Kidney transplant evaluation, post-transplant care, evaluation of living kidney donors. Chronic kidney disease and kidney transplant.
