  • Dr. Alexis LaPietra is an Emergency Medicine, Pain Management, and Addiction Medicine Physician at RWJBarnabas Health where she serves as the System Director of Addiction Medicine for the Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist Service Line as well as the Medical Director for the Institute for Prevention and Recovery. She completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at St Joseph’s Health in 2014 and from there went on to complete a Pain Management Fellowship. In 2020 she became Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. Dr LaPietra’s focus is on reducing the stigma and barriers to providing evidence-based Substance Use Disorder treatment in both acute and ambulatory care settings. Her vision is to create local, state, and national infrastructure supporting the integration and normalization of harm reduction and Substance Use Disorder management throughout the entire healthcare network; thus ensuring all people seeking health care are treated with dignity and respect regardless of past or active substance use.
