Living Donor Program

Kidney Donation Options

For patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are approaching or undergoing dialysis, living donation is the most effective transplant option.

Living Donation Options include:

  • Living related donor transplantation
  • Emotionally-related donor transplantation
  • Living Donor Kidney Exchange Program (patients who have a willing living donor that is not compatible to them)
  • Altruistic living donation
  • Compatible Share Program
  • Program for incompatible transplants (ABO and HLA incompatible donor/recipient pairs)

Pioneering Transplant Options

We developed New Jersey’s first and most comprehensive Living Donor Program, featuring nationally-renowned surgeons, transplant physicians, nurse coordinators, dieticians, social workers, and pharmacists to expertly match recipients with the most compatible donor for optimal quality of life. Both donor and recipient pairs are provided with exceptional care throughout the process, integrating a skilled team with successful outcomes.

We Provide:

  • A nationally-recognized transplant team
  • Minimally-invasive surgical techniques that reduce pain and complications
  • Continued research on living donation to provide the most current treatment

Living Donor Benefits

  • Increased quality of life for recipients who receive a live donor kidney transplant
  • On average, a live donor kidney can last about twice as long as a deceased donor kidney
  • Emotional benefit by the donor
  • The recipient comes off the waiting list for a kidney transplant, ensuring someone else to receive a deceased donor kidney
