Administrative Fellowship Program

The RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group Administrative Fellowship is a one-year experience designed to provide the fellow exposure to a large-scale medical group’s dynamics gained from working alongside the leadership team. The program is a rotational and project-orientated initiative that will provide the fellow insight into one of the largest integrated health care systems in the country.

RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group is an integral part of RWJBarnabas Health’s comprehensive health care system. The primary and specialty care providers comprising our multi-specialty medical group deliver coordinated, patient-centered care with convenient access to the resources and technologies offered by RWJBarnabas Health.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be in the final year of an accredited graduate program, pursuing a MHA, MPH, MPA, or MBA with an emphasis in health care, or degree equivalent.
  • Applicants must be US citizens or be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (we are unable to sponsor H-1B visas).

Fellowship Structure

The Fellowship is a structured one-year program comprised of clinical and operational rotations. The program begins on Monday, July 6, 2026. During the year, the Fellow is exposed to various aspects of hospital administration. During each rotation, the Fellow receives an overview of the department’s operations, challenges, and initiatives. The Fellow has the opportunity to work with that department on projects that are aligned with their interests and develop core competencies.

Interacting with the Senior Leadership team overseeing specific areas including operations, human resources, marketing and public relations, patient care services and nursing, finance and physicians’ services is an active part of the Fellowship. Hospital Directors serve as mentors for the Fellows, providing professional development and the opportunity to observe high-level strategic meetings.

Fellows leave the program with:

  • A comprehensive overview of the day-to-day operations for a medical group
  • Familiarity with the role and function of health care administrators in the management of medical group practices
  • Exposure to many diverse projects and skill sets
