Steven M Newark Beth Israel Heart Transplant Gives Second Chance

By summer he was able to enjoy swimming with his family again and is grateful for this second chance at life.

One day in 2017, Steven Mongiovi, 62, of Forked River, woke up at 6am experiencing a massive heart attack while his grandchildren were visiting him. This was part of the tough road he had which started in 2017 and finally led to a heart transplant, a life-saving surgery he had at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2021 under the care of the Advanced Heart Failure Treatment and Heart Transplant team. By summer he was able to enjoy swimming with his family again and is grateful for this second chance at life.
