Niall J Cared for Since Day One

“You have truly created an environment of unmatched care for the little ones in our community.”

Although my son Niall was born in Colorado in 2018, the pediatric team at RWJBarnabas Health has been by his side since day one. Even before we brought him home to New Jersey at just 10 days old, his pediatrician, Deborah Coy, MD, was already connected with us via FaceTime, guiding and supporting us every step of the way.

Before Niall was even two months old, he was diagnosed with a Staphylococcus infection. Thanks to the expertise and compassionate care of Uzma Hassan, MD, Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Assistant Professor at RWJ-Rutgers Medical School, and member of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, he was admitted to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and hospitalized for nearly a week. Dr. Hassan was there often, monitoring his progress and making sure he was on the path to recovery. Because of her exceptional care, my son is now a healthy and thriving 7-year-old.

Fast forward to this summer, during camping season, Niall was diagnosed with Lyme disease from a tick bite. Once again, Dr. Hassan was there. Her prompt response, attention to detail, and genuine concern for Niall’s well-being reminded me why I trust her so deeply. Every time we see her, I leave feeling as though we’ve been cared for by a family member.
