This educational seminar will introduce Pelvic Health Rehabilitation with a focus on the Athlete. Our goal is to bring a broader and deeper understanding of how sports and Pelvic Health are inter-connected and how to better recognize symptoms , prevent injuries and offer rehabilitation options to this population.

Core Objectives:

1. Understand the anatomy and function of the lumbo-pelvic complex, hip and pelvic floor and how they integrate during complex high levels activities.

2. Utilize evidence based approach to understand the research and achieve best practices and outcomes for clients who may be at risk for pelvic floor dysfunction.

3. Provide strategies for Athletic Trainers to recognize and address pelvic floor dysfunction in athletes.

4. Introduce Pelvic Health Rehabilitation as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to address optimal bowel and bladder function and overall stability of pelvis in athletes.

Bio : Dr. Rachna Mehta PT, DPT, CIMT, OCS, PRPC Dr. Rachna Mehta PT, DPT, CIMT, OCS, PRPC is a Senior Physical Therapist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton in New Jersey. She graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Columbia University in New York in 2006 and has since practiced in mostly an Outpatient Orthopedic setting . Over the years she specialized as a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist ( CIMT ), Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and also recently earned the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification ( PRPC) from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She has been treating patients with complex orthopedic conditions and pelvic floor dysfunction for about 11 years. She is currently part of the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Program offered at the Center of Health and Wellness at RWJ Hamilton. She treats women, men and children with a variety of Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions and is passionate about community education.

Bio: Dr. Jennifer M. Watt, PT, DPT

Dr. Jennifer M. Watt, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist and has been practicing for the past 10 years in various settings including acute care, acute rehab, subacute rehab, and currently in the outpatient setting. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2004 followed by getting her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008. Just recently she started getting involved in the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Program at the Center of Health and Wellness at RWJ Hamilton and has since been treating pelvic floor dysfunction in both female and male population these past three years. She has taken several courses in Pelvic Health from the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute that includes Pelvic Floor Level 1, Pelvic Floor 2B, and Male Pelvic Dysfunction and Treatment.
