Rights and Responsibilities in Special Education
Register Now
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides comprehensive rights for individuals receiving special education and guarantees that students receive a free, appropriate, public education. However, school districts cannot be relied upon to consistently provide the services and programming that students are entitled to. This workshop will focus on providing an understanding of the fundamental rights in special education including "stay-put," education in the "least restrictive environment," and independent evaluations. We will discuss practical steps to take when you disagree with your child's educational programming. This 90-minute presentation also includes a Q&A.
