Presented by: S. Paul Prior, Esq., Hinkle, Prior, Fischer & Oberweis, P.C., Attorneys at Law
Often in families in which there is a child with developmental disabilities, much of the focus is on the disabled child, with an assumption that siblings will step in when parents cannot continue to provide care. That is not always the case. In this workshop, attendees will learn how to have a conversation with siblings to assess willingness to assume responsiblities, as well as strategies and tips for incorporating borthers and sisters who are able to do so, into planning for the future. We will review transfer of guardianship rights, estate administration, trust administration, the role of the representative payee, and general advocacy. These issues are especially important when families have been self directing care and service. This 90-minute presentation is approrpiate for parents and adults siblings.
