The 2026 CPT Coding Updates reflect advancements in contemporary clinical practice to ensure the code set fulfills its vital role as
the trusted universal language of medicine for clinicians.

Key updates in the CPT 2026 code set include:

• Overall there are 418 updates in the CPT 2026 code set including- 288 new codes, 84 deletions, and 46 revisions
• The CPT Code set continues to expand in new areas of medicine with proprietary laboratory analyses (27%) and Category III Codes
• for emerging technology (27%) assigned to the largest proportion of new codes.
• Additionally, surgeries, including lower extremity revascularizations and prostate biopsies, have significant updates.
