Increasingly school districts are utilizing “informal removals” as a method of keeping children with disabilities and behaviors out of schools. Specifically, schools are improperly and over-abundantly requiring students with disabilities to obtain psychiatric clearances before allowing them to return to school. During this presentation, you will learn about this practice, its discriminatory and educational impact on students with disabilities, the legal protections students have, and the immediate actions you need to take if this happens to your child.
