Critical Care Ultrasound - RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick


1. Discuss the knowledge base required to perform critical care ultrasonography.

2. Incorporate the interpretation skills required for taking critical care ultrasonography into frontline management of the ICU.

3. Perform 4 basic cardiac windows in Point of Care Ultrasound. Evaluate qualitative evaluation of LV EF, RV diameter, and IVC variability.

4. Evaluate pleural, abdominal, vascular access.

5. Interpret image-based clinical cases.

In-kind support is being provided by SONOSITE by way of demonstration and workshop equipment loan.

About the Course

This course is designed for critical care physicians and APPs, and includes practical applications in vascular, pleural, thoracic, abdominal ultrasonography, and echocardiography.

The course focuses on the hands-on applications as well as visual image capture demonstration and interpretation. Also included is point-of-care ultrasound by Ibrahim El-Husseini, MD, Course Director.

Non-employees: $500

Fee includes electronic and hard copy version of Point of Care Ultrasound, breakfast, lunch, and refreshment break.

  • Basic Echocardiography
  • Lung and Pleural Ultrasound
  • Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Detection of Deep Venous Thrombosis
  • Putting It All Together-Demonstration of the Whole-Body Critical Care Ultrasound Exam

Method of Participation

In order to obtain credit for this activity, participants are required to sign in at the Registration Desk prior to the start of the course.

Attend the activity, and complete the Activity Evaluation Form. A letter certifying your attendance and credit verification will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks of the course. This live activity is pending AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with extent of their participation in the activity.

Refund Policy
