  • Dr. Sonam Sharma is a radiation oncologist at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center with a special interest in the treatment of head and neck, breast, and genitourinary malignancies, including prostate cancer. She is committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered and evidence-based care that supports each patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

    Dr. Sharma received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University. She then completed medical school and residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She served as Chief Resident in her final year of training. Following residency, Dr. Sharma joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she served as both an Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director for the residency program. Her commitment to medical education was recognized with the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) Educator of the Year Award in 2019 and 2021.

    In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sharma has a strong interest in clinical trials research and is dedicated to advancing treatment options and improving outcomes through evidence-based innovation. She is honored to be part of the multidisciplinary team at RWJBarnabas Health, where she collaborates closely with colleagues across specialties to deliver comprehensive cancer care.
