    Scott J. Mellender, MD, is an anesthesiologist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Anesthesia Residency Program Director at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor at RWJMS. Since 2013 Dr. Mellender has been the interventional pain management physician for Rutgers Athletics. He received his undergraduate degree from State University of New York at Albany, New York and his MD from State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, New York. Dr. Mellender completed a residency in General Surgery and then Anesthesiology at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-RWJMS. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at New York Medical College-St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. Since his graduation he has been part of the faculty at RWJMS. He has impacted many through his lectures and presentations.

    Dr. Mellender grew up just north of New York City and is currently married. He enjoys spending his free time with his family. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching most sports, especially football.
