Sara E. Lubitz, MD

Dr. Lubitz specializes in pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal disease, as well as gender affirmation hormone therapy. She serves as Medical Director of the Pituitary Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where she runs clinical trials in acromegaly, Cushing’s disease, and hypoparathyroidism. She is also co-founder of the Adult Endocrinology Transgender Clinic, part of the multidisciplinary RWJUH PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey, providing comprehensive care for transgender patients. She treats a wide variety of thyroid and parathyroid conditions, including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, and hypoparathyroidism.
Dr. Lubitz is a recognized leader in medical education and has held several national roles advancing endocrinology training and curriculum development. She has served on the executive council of the Association for Program Directors in Endocrinology and Metabolism and co-authored the hypothalamic-pituitary section of the APDEM fellowship curriculum. She has also chaired the American Association of Endocrinology Fellows Education Subcommittee and served as vice-chair of the Education Oversight Committee, coordinating national educational initiatives.
Her research interests include pituitary disease and hypoparathyroidism, with active investigation into the burden of disease on patient quality of life. She has served as an investigator for numerous clinical trials and continues to advance treatment options for patients with complex endocrine disorders.
Dr. Lubitz is recognized nationally and locally for her clinical excellence, named among Best Doctors in America, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, NJ Top Docs, and Jersey Choice Top Doctors.
