    Ranjita Sengupta, MD, FACC, FASNC, FASE, RPVI joined Cardiology Associates of Somerset County in July 2007. She is an attending physician at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, New Jersey. She is a Board certified invasive cardiologist with a passion to treat women with cardiovascular disease and is the only exclusive female cardiologist in Somerset County who performs cardiac catheterizations. During her cardiology fellowship, Dr. Sengupta focused a great deal on state-of-the-art technologies, and has specialized in cardiac imaging with Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac MRI and CT. She has appeared on several newspapers, radio and television shows regarding cardiovascular disease and has actively participated in many community programs. She has been featured in JACC (Journal of American College of Cardiology) as one of the few vascular interpretation certified cardiologists nationwide.

    Dr. Sengupta is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiac CT and Registered Physician for Vascular Interpretation and is licensed to practice medicine and cardiology in New Jersey.

    Dr. Sengupta earned her medical degree with Honors from University of Calcutta, India in 1999. She was ranked 3rd in the Medical Board out of 700 students across 5 medical colleges. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at University of Connecticut, CT in 2004. She was the recipient of the “Outstanding Intern of the Year” in 2002 and “Best Resident of the Year” for 2004. Dr. Sengupta went through her Cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Heart Institute, Houston, TX which is one of the premier institutions in the US, excelling in cardiovascular disease and listed as nation’s Top 10 Cardiac Centers by the US News and World Report. She completed her fellowship in cardiology in 2007 and was the recipient of the prestigious “Van Reet Award”, for the best Cardiology fellow excelling in research, education, clinical knowledge and leadership.

    She is well published in professional journals such as Journal of American College of Cardiology,American Journal of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, Journal of American Society of Echocardiography, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care, Chest , American Journal of Geriatric Cardiology, Journal of Methodist DeBakey Heart Center and the Texas Heart Institute Journal. She is the recipient of the “Cecil Lehman Mayer Research Award” by the American College of Chest Physicians for her research on cardiac disease in sleep apnea.

    Her professional memberships include American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and ARDMS/APCA. Consumers Research Council of America has chosen her as one of “America’s Top Cardiologists” in several consecutive years from 2008 to current.

    She is married with one son and enjoys travelling, cooking gourmet food, vocal music, physical fitness and is hoping to take up Indian Classical Dance lessons (Bharatnatyam) one day.
