    Monica Weiner, MD, FAAP is the Acting Medical Director of the Metro RDTC. She is board-certified in general pediatrics, as well as child abuse pediatrics. Dr. Weiner has extensive experience caring for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, and has significant expertise working with underserved populations as well as child protective service agencies in diagnosing and defining cases of child abuse and neglect. A frequent lecturer and leader within the specialty of child maltreatment, Dr. Weiner has published professional abstracts and has led programs to educate other clinicians and child protection and law enforcement personnel on a vast array of topics in child abuse. She is committed to educating physicians as well as communities, and has led many continuing education programs related to evaluating and treating child abuse. A current co-chair of the Metro Regional Community-Based Fatality Review Board, Dr. Weiner has been called upon for expert medical testimony in the interests of abused children and various child protection agencies.

    Her extensive professional training includes a pediatric forensic medicine fellowship at Louisiana State University/Children's Hospital of New Orleans, and a pediatric residency at Schneider Children's Hospital/Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York. She is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University and holds a Masters in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in anthropology. Dr. Weiner also is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of its section on child abuse. Additionally, she is a member of The Ray Helfer Society, an honorary society of physicians seeking to provide leadership in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Dr. Weiner is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey and New York.
