Philosophy of Care:
Be thorough and methodical every time. As physicians we do 3 things. Diagnose, Educate, and Counsel. The "diagnosis" or plan to clarify the diagnosis is based on our training, but the value is in how we listen and educate patients about the why and the whats. We help patients feel less stressed or worried when we take the time to explain and educate regarding the following things: Why we think it is what it is. What are we doing to do next? What is the data/reasoning behind our recommendations and plan? What should patients expect next? If the issue goes away, then great! But if it's slow to resolve, or a chronic issue, then we serve as a person/resource who can counsel and guide them through the process.
