Dr. Michael J. Nicholson is a pulmonary, critical care, advanced lung disease, and lung transplantation specialist. He completed his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Temple University Hospital, where he also earned additional certification in advanced lung disease and lung transplantation. Prior to fellowship, he completed his internal medicine residency at Bayonne Medical Center in Bayonne, New Jersey where he served as chief resident. He received his osteopathic medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. He has experience with multiple advanced bronchoscopic procedures including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction, EBUS-TBNA, and robotic-assisted navigational bronchoscopy. He has published peer-reviewed research, presented at international conferences, and authored textbook chapters on a variety of topics including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction, COPD, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, lung transplantation, and pleural diseases. His research and presentations have been highlighted in various medical media outlets and online educational platforms. A lifelong New Jersey native, Dr. Nicholson is committed to bringing his world-class, university-level training and expertise to patients in his home state. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family, attending Rutgers sporting events, and exploring local restaurants.
