Joseph A. Ippolito, MD was born and raised in West Orange, NJ. After a diagnosis of Stage 4 neuroblastoma at a young age, he underwent successful treatment and cure at Columbia Presbyterian. This led to a passion for providing care to patients and families battling cancer. In his clinical practice, Dr. Ippolito cares for children and adults with bone and soft tissue tumors and utilizes his own background to provide empathy and hope to patients with limb and life-threatening musculoskeletal cancers.
Philosophy of Care:
As an orthopaedic oncologist, my goals in patient care are to maximize restoration of function and provide optimal pain relief in the setting of limb and life-threatening illnesses such as bone and soft tissue sarcomas, benign bone and soft tissue tumors, and metastatic bone disease. Orthopaedic oncology is multidisciplinary, requiring a team approach for optimal treatment, often including the expertise of colleagues in pathology, radiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, and vascular surgery. We work to prioritize the patient’s goals and expectations for care, working collaboratively to achieve this aim whenever possible.

Benign and malignant tumors of the extremities and pelvis in children and adults, including but not limited to: Osteoid Osteoma, Osteoblastoma, Osteochondroma, Osteosarcoma, Enchondroma, Chondroblastoma, Chondromyxoid Fibroma, Chondrosarcoma, Non-Ossifying Fibroma, Fibrous Dysplasia, Osteofibrous Dysplasia, Adamantinoma, Ewing’s Sarcoma, Giant Cell Tumor, Metastatic Bone Disease, Synovial Sarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma, Epithelioid Sarcoma, Angiosarcoma, Clear Cell Sarcoma, Liposarcoma, Extraskeletal Myxoid Chondrosarcoma, Myxoid Liposarcoma, Leiomyosarcoma, Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma, Fibrosarcoma, Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST), Neurofibroma, Schwannoma, Lipoma, Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor, Myxoma, Desmoid Tumor, Lipoblastoma, Angiolipoma, Hibernoma, Hemangioma
