  • Director of Neonatology

    Dr. Bishara is a highly skilled, fellowship-trained neonatologist with expertise in family-centered care, pulmonary hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, palliative care, neonatal ethics, and congenital heart disease. She has been a vital part of the dedicated, multidisciplinary team at the Shyan C. Sun, M.D. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), part of the Children’s Health Network at RWJBarnabas Health, where she has served as Associate Director of Neonatology since 2023. This unit cares for over 1,000 patients annually, boasting infant survival rates among the best in the nation.

    Dr. Bishara earned her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 2006. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 2007 and 2009, respectively, followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University – Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in 2012. Before joining CBMC, she worked at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center. Prior to joining CBMC, Dr. Bishara also held the position of Director of Neonatology and Director of Newborn Nursery at New York Presbyterian Queens/Weill Cornell Medicine, where she aligned the Level III NICU with New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and participated in several system-wide collaboratives.

    A passionate advocate for her field, Dr. Bishara is board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine. She has received numerous prestigious awards for both patient care and her research initiatives, and she will bring her dedication and enthusiasm to her new role, committed to enhancing the practice of neonatology within the department and throughout the field.
