    Dr. Rezai is currently the Director of the Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He was instrumental in creating the "intensivist driven" ICU, where daily rounds are multidisciplinary, involving residents, students (medical, physician assistant, pharmacy), physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, dieticians, social workers and pharmacists. A monthly ICU QI meeting is conducted evaluating all metrics, stats, infection rates and utilization. He is intimately involved in teaching medical, surgical, neurosurgical, ENT, OB/GYN, and anesthesiology residents as well as nurses and physician assistants.

    He serves on and chairs many hospital committees and participates in multiple research studies. In addition to his contributions at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Rezai has been working with ICUs at other RWJBarnabas Health hospitals to establish an "intensivist driven" model similar to the one established at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. In 2016, he worked closely with a team of critical care physicians at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, a RWJBarnabas Health hospital, to implement an "intensivist driven" ICU.

    He is an active member at the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a reviewer for a number of medical journals. He is board certified in Critical Care Medicine, Neurocritical Care, and Pulmonary Diseases. He is also a reviewer for a number of medical journals.
