Dr. Cecilia Ethun specializes in surgical oncology, gallbladder and bile duct cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma), liver cancer, including colorectal liver metastases, and pancreas cancer. She has technical expertise in both open and robotic surgery, including robotic Whipple procedures and robotic liver surgery, and offers advanced cancer therapies, such as hepatic arterial infusion pump therapy. Dr. Ethun earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Emory University, where she also earned a Master of Science in clinical research as a Katz Foundation Research Fellow in Surgical Oncology. She gained advanced training in complex general surgical oncology and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery through a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Ethun has published over 100 articles and book chapters, has given scientific presentations at meetings nationally and internationally, and serves on the editorial boards of the Annals of Surgical Oncology and Surgical Oncology Insights journals.
Prior to joining Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Ethun was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, where she also served as Clinical Director of Surgical Oncology at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Assistant Program Director for the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship.
