Andrew Brown, MD, joined The Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in 2011 and serves as the Co-Director of the Cooperman Barnabas Lung Cancer Screening Program. Dr. Brown received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa. Brown completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.
During his fellowship, Dr. Brown pursued research projects in both breast and thoracic cancers. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology with sub-specialties that include breast cancer, hematologic oncology, general oncology and thoracic cancer.
Dr. Brown has published several articles in professional publications and is a member of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. As a commitment to providing expert care to his patients, he is actively involved in clinical research programs and clinical trials, especially those with the newest molecularly targeted agents.
Dr. Brown guides patients and their families from their initial diagnostic workup, including the staging of a newly diagnosed cancer to the completion of their treatment journey. Additionally, Dr. Brown prides himself in being able to educate and provide emotional support to patients and their families, which he believes is a crucial part of their treatment plan.
