    Akshay Goyal, M.D. is a board-eligible Attending Anesthesiologist, specializing in Interventional Pain at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS). He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience with a Minor in Sports Medicine from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and his Medical Degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at Boston University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He then traveled to RWJMS for his Pain Medicine fellowship.

    He has collaborated on a multitude of projects and presentations with his peers for the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, and other professional societies. He is credited as a chapter author for “OK to Proceed,” a published textbook that focuses on patient safety in the perioperative setting. His clinical goals include providing evidence-based compassionate care in both the clinic and procedure room. He regularly studies the latest treatment modalities and takes a holistic approach towards patient care with the ultimate objective of maximizing quality of life.

    Dr. Goyal was born in a small town in the northern part of India, and then immigrated to the United States. He grew up in South Florida. When he is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, traveling, and listening to podcasts.
