RWJBarnabas Health is Seeking an Experienced Pediatric Surgeon and ECMO Director in Northern NJ

The largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, RWJBarnabas Health, is seeking a full time Pediatric Surgeon and ECMO director to join an existing program in our Northern Region.

Clinical responsibilities will include providing clinical services at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Duties include call coverage, ambulatory services, emergency department and inpatient consultation services, and operative case coverage. Trauma call coverage is not required in this position. The candidate will be working closely with the resident program affiliated with the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School at Newark, surgical nurse practitioners and medical students. New staff will join a busy practice with unparalleled room for growth, combining the largest integrated health care system and the most comprehensive academic health care provider organization in New Jersey. The ideal candidate will help build and maintain the ECMO program in the northern region in collaboration with the ECMO program in New Brunswick (southern region).

  • Board-certified in Pediatric Surgery
  • 5 years of clinical experience
  • NJ licensed or eligible for licensure

  • Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ), the only state-designated children’s hospital located at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, provides care for more than 30 specialized pediatric services, including New Jersey’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Service Line of RWJBH, Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ and the Children’s Heart Center, which offers a complete range of medical and surgical treatments for the most complex cardiac abnormalities. It also includes a 67-bed, Level IV NICU that offers New Jersey’s first Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy and the highest level of intensive care for newborns. The NICU is part of the Vermont Oxford Network. All pediatric and pediatric surgical subspecialties are represented.

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) offers a multidisciplinary team of experts, with an attending staff that includes more than 250 pediatric practitioners and an integrated residency program with CHoNJ, in nearly every subspecialty. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center has long been recognized as a leader in providing the highest level of patient care – delivering nearly 5,800 babies annually. Its McMullen Children’s Center is a “hospital within a hospital”, designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of young patients. Pediatric inpatient services include a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a 56-bed nationally recognized Level IV NICU which collaborates with the Vermont Oxford Network.  CBMC has a robust pediatric nephrology department with the most experienced Pediatric Renal Transplant Program in New Jersey. CBMC is host to the sole state burn unit.
