RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Neurologist for Employment in Somerville, New Jersey

RWJBarnabas Health is currently seeking a General Neurologist with EEG training for employment with RWJ University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Located in the very desirable Central New Jersey area, this position is near top-notch schools and beautiful suburban neighborhoods.

Position Highlights:

  • The position includes inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and the chance to join a thriving practice with shared call group.
  • Inpatient work will be conducted at RWJ University Hospital Somerset, a 300-bed community hospital with a primary stroke center, a closed ICU and several dedicated hospitalists. Duties will include but not be limited to performing hospital rounds.
  • Outpatient responsibilities will include addressing neurological complaints including General Adult Neurology Care.
  • The General Neurologist will also perform some amount of Inpatient coverage as required.
  • While we are seeking a General Neurologist, we are also open to sub-specialty trained candidates who would perform a mix of general neurology and work related to their sub-specialty as needed.
  • The Neurologist will play an active role in the development of treatment protocols, management plans, and evidence-based treatment standards for neurology patients.
  • Also, participation in multidisciplinary quality and patient safety committees as needed will be expected.
  • Proper documentation of billing of clinical services is key to the position, and must follow all applicable organizational and Joint Commission/regulatory requirements.
  • Other responsibilities include participation in the education and training of residents, fellows and medical students.
  • The Neurologist will allocate up to 3 hours per week for administrative time, to allow for clinical trials, community outreach, and other efforts as needed.

Candidate requirements:

  • ABPN BC/BE Neurologist with 1-year fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology (primarily EEG)
  • Licensed in NJ or eligible for NJ licensure
  • Commitment to advancing Rutgers’s mission to teach and guide medical students
  • We are open to both experienced physicians and recent graduates!
