Job Overview:
The Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider provides health care to neonates, infants and children up to one year of age. The Neonatal APP provides care for critically ill premature and full-term infants with emphasis place on family centered culturally diverse sensitive care. In collaboration with the Neonatologist the APP has daily responsibility for the assessment and management of patients in high and low acuity. The APP practices in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a continuum of primary, acute and or subspecialty healthcare to their patients. They enhance the quality of care through education and clinical practice utilizing advanced practice, knowledge and research.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of APP experience in a NICU setting
- Education and experience in accordance with local, state and federal requirements
- Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License
- RN License and NP Certification (if NP)
- NCCPA (if PA)
- CDS and DEA
- Current specialty specific national certification through the National Certification Corporation NCC
- Current NRP and BLS certification as required by specialty practice
- Current prescriptive authority per state regulation
- Clinical privileges at healthcare facilities as applicable
Shift/Schedule
- Full Time
- 12 hour shifts
- Days/Nights
- Weekend and holiday rotation
Essential Functions
- Manages clinical care of patients in the neonatal specialty area
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies and procedures
- Collaborates with healthcare providers to plan and coordinate patient care while promoting diversity, equality and inclusion
- Provides counseling and education for families related to the specialty area
- Promotes quality care through ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient care outcomes
- Supports quality improvement and dissemination of evidence-based practice in the specialty area to all health care providers
- Responsible for maintaining current clinical and procedural competence
- Maintains compliance with all hospital medical staff, office rules and regulations
