(West Orange, NJ)—The New Jersey Department of Health and EMS for Children recently presented the Always Ready for Children Award to RWJBarnabas Health Mobile Health. This recognition is part of a national initiative aimed at reducing pediatric death and disability both in the prehospital settings and within hospitals.
“We are proud to be the first health system in New Jersey to receive this award across our entire Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) divisions. It underscores our commitment to caring for children across all settings,” states Fernando (Ferd) Ferrer, MD, FACS, FAAP, Chief Pediatric Officer, RWJBarnabas Health. “As the largest provider of mobile health services in New Jersey and one of the largest in the United States, achieving this award reinforces our commitment to pediatric emergency care,” states Jim Smith, Senior Vice President, Mobile Health.

The Always Ready for Children program is presented to organizations that demonstrate excellence in pediatric readiness including specialized training, equipment and protocols. “This recognition prioritizes the unique needs of children and families during emergencies. We are honored to be recognized for this work,” states Steven A. Cohen, MBA, NRP, FACPE, Senior Director of Clinical Quality, Mobile Health.
This award underscores the importance of specialized approaches for children and our commitment to meet those needs.
